Lift.Learn.Live

You’ll notice we have titled this month’s newsletter Lift.Learn.Live; this is the theme that I’d like our newsletter to live by because it reflects the gym, the members inside of it, and the purpose of this monthly newsletter.  Lifting is a passion that we all share; it brings us into the gym day in and day out, in a quest to better ourselves for our respective disciplines.  Learning is the key to success in any endeavour. To quote Albert Einstein “the day you stop learning is the day you stop growing” and I think that’s both physically and mentally true in our sport. Here at Metroflex Plano knowledge is a big part of what sets our athletes apart from other facilities, our athletes KNOW how to win.

This newsletter is one of the many ways Metroflex Plano is dedicated to spreading that knowledge to everyone that comes in contact with us.  This newsletter is packed with 3 great articles that you can ACTUALLY learn from. Metroflex Plano’s own Tawna Eubanks’s interview on “Perfect Posing” is a great read for all the up and coming bikinicompetitors, and a real good look into how hard Tawna works to perfect her posing and along with some great “nuts and bolts” advice on improving your presentation.

Josh Bryant, proprietor of JoshStrength.com and Metroflex trainer, is an established voice in strength education and is published in print and online and we are happy to have him contributing to our newsletter. His article addresses everyone’s favorite question “How much ya bench?!” broken into 4 easy steps to improving your bench press.

And last but certainly not least is our friend Dr. Amy Lewis who gives somegreat insight to how you are probably messing up your warm up! Injury prevention is very important in any sport and a proper warm up is essential, take a look on Amy’s great practical advice here.  The last element is Live.  For most of the folks here at Metroflex, fitness isn’t a 3 hour per week interest, it’s a lifestyle.

As always there has been a lot going on recently with Metroflex Plano and it’s athletes. The competitive year is coming to a close but we ended November with a BANG! The first weekend of November we had athletes in Austin at the Texas State Naturals while Tawna and myself were in Sacramento, California for the Sacramento Pro show.  Sam Nation placed 4th in the men’s lightweight division of the texas state naturals.

This was Sam’s first show and he has a bright future ahead of him he is a very gifted athlete.  In  Sacramento Tawna came out gun’s blazing and pushed herself to the front of the field. Tawna placed second in what we feel like was her career best, and was a great way to end a great season for her.  The following weekend we had athletes in Atlanta and Reno! Jodi Miller went to defend her Ms. Natural Olympia title in Reno and came away with a 3rd place finish in the pro physique portion of the show.

In Atlanta Jenna Potter made her second appearance at the national level and look great, Jenna will be working hard in 2013 to continue making a dent in the national level.  Jennifer Baker was the talk of the weekend though earning her IFBB pro card in just her second show! We are very proud to add another athlete to the pro ranks.

I hope everyone has a wonderful thanksgiving and enjoys time with friends and family while getting a break from the rigors of contest prep dieting!
