supplements-in-handWhen it comes to our bodies and achieving peak physical fitness or condition, we want the very best. The very best training program, protein powders, carbohydrate supplements, creatine, glutamine, bcaa’s, pre workout, post workout….the list goes on and on and on. And guess what? We are willing to pay the cost.

That’s all fine and good, but it always leaves me wondering why the same guy’s who spend hundreds of dollars a month on supplements, are complaining about paying more than 2.99 per pound of boneless skinless chicken breast. The fact of the matter is that things cost money, but if we are willing to pay more for the” best supplements”, why does the “best food” take a back seat?

Need a change of pace from the stepmill, treadmill, or elliptical machine?!

Cardio can be monotonous, time consuming, and just plain boring! I enjoy a moderate amount of steady state cardio because it’s a great start to my day, allows me to do some reading or listen to new music and get my heart pumping before the work day begins. That being said, if you do anything long enough you get tired of it! Here is a great change of pace for you. My favorite part of this workout is it can be done outside. Soak up the vitamin D, grab a couple workout partners and go work up a sweat! This kind of cardio is not only a fun change of pace but the intensity is very high which will give you a longer term caloric burn than the steady state cardio we all do on a regular basis.  However you can’t do this at just any gym! Luckily at Metroflex Plano we have a great outdoor area and some cool equipment just for this sort of thing but if you are in a more traditional fitness facility I’ll provide some alternative options for you!

Arnold-ChestSince the beginning of time, men have sought dominance over their peers as a natural survival mechanism as well as a means for spreading their genes. This means being larger
in stature than the next guy, this holds true today on stage, in the gym, and on the street. Not much makes you look bigger than having a gigantic chest. unfortunately for me, I wasnt blessed with great big slabs of meat on my collar bone right out of the  box. Ive had to struggle, fail, experiment, start over, and bust my my ass to get the least amount of response from my little baby chest.

I had been training with weights seriously for about a year and a half by the time I first stepped on stage. It was the 2009 Ronnie Coleman classic, which is always a packed show. Back stage I noticed that everyone in my class had HAYUUGE pecks! This was especially daunting as I had lost about 50lbs for my prep and was flatter than a pancake. Walking off the stage the first thought in my head was that I needed to make my chest grow exponentially.

May 4th, 2013 at the Mesquite Rodeo Center
This year’s Ronnie Coleman/Gasp Classic was a true testament to the size of Texas Bodybuilding and Ftiness. This show is always one of the best in the state and this year was no different. Over 400 competitors showed up for the weekend to take part in the NPC portion of the show and another couple hundred athletes took part in the strength sports around the show’s expo.   Metroflex Plano was proud to be a big par t of this show! The Destination Team was all together in the expo, with the Gasp/Better Bodies Booth and the Ultimate Sports Nutrition booth all being right in line with our Metroflex Plano Booth. It was great to tell the folks about Destination and continue to build excitement into our brands and our new project!

Here’s a look at the crew that Metroflex Plano was proud to help bring to the stage!
